RH AT ST.MARY'S CHURCH FETE
 
Radio Horton were invited to St.Mary's Church Fete in Banbury on Saturday.
We had a brilliant afternoon, thanks to everyone involved with the Church and
what a pleasure it was to meet Countryfile's John Craven. Thanks to our team
on the day, Anthony Brown, Adrian Evans, Alex Humphries, Ben Potter, Graham
Rousell and John Webb.

NEW LOCAL CHARITY AND BAND/ARTIST OF THE WEEK
 
Where possible our station likes to help promote local charities and
bands/artists. Following our re-launch on Facebook, RH has decided to
nominate a local charity and band/artist of the week. Each Monday, a
charity and a band/artist will be chosen for promotion on our Facebook
page and on-air.
 
Our first nominees are, Local Charity of the Week: Dogs for the Disabled

TOWN MAYOR'S CIVIC SUNDAY AND HOBBY HORSE FESTIVAL
 
The annual Town Mayor's Civic Sunday and Hobby Horse Festival took place at
the People's Park in Banbury on Sunday. Members helping on the day included
our compere of the day, Ian Fleming, Adrian Evans, Bob Dainty, Graham
Rousell and Alex Humphries.

£40 JEFFS TRAVEL GIFT VOUCHER WINNER FOR MAY
     
Andrew Taylor from Banbury a former patient on E Ward is the winner in
our monthly draw for June. The draw was made during the last request
programme of the month, Adrian Evans's Wednesday Request Time
programme on Wednesday June 30.

IT'S ANOTHER DOUBLE WEEKEND OF FUN AT HANWELL FIELDS AND
CHERWELL HEIGHTS
  
Saturday June 26/Sunday June 27. Hanwell Fields Community Association held
a fun day at the Hanwell Fields Community School to promote activities
available to the residents of Hanwell Fields. RH were on hand to provide music
and commentary. The team on the day consisted of Adrian Evans, John Webb
and Stewart Green.
  
On Sunday it was on to the Grange Primary School Fete on Cherwell Heights.
Member, Adrian Evans kept everyone informed of what was happening and
played the music.

BANBURY IN BLOOM PLANTING DAY FINALLY GOES AHEAD
   
Due to wet weather this regular event for RH had been put back a week from
the previous Tuesday. The People's Park was the setting for the annual Banbury
In Bloom Planting Day. Twelve local primary schools took part and for the
second year in a row the Radio Horton sponsored trophy for runners-up went to
Hardwick Primary School. The theme this year was Hobby Horses.
Odeon Movie Mob host Stewart Green was joined by Adrian Evans and
newcomer Emma Stuchbury. Llew Hughes another member of Radio Horton also
helped out with the event. Hillview Primary School won the trophy for the most
impressive bed.
  
JUNE 12/13 2010
IT'S A DOUBLE WEEKEND OF FUN AT THE BRACKLEY CARNIVAL AND THE
BANBURY AND DISTRICT SHOW
  
Saturday June 12/Sunday June 13. The annual Brackley Community Carnival
took place on Saturday. Our Monday night team of John Mayo, Maria
Pierrepont, John Webb, Andrew Wildman and Anthony Brown were on hand
as thousands enjoyed the attractions at Brackley's biggest event of the year.
A "Musicals" themed procession started the day followed by a whole range of
activities and acts in the arena. They included, Devil's Horsemen - Roman
Chariot Racing, Tom and Tilly Turnip, Chunkie Russell Funtime and bands
including Bodicote Royal British Legion Band, Milton Keynes Pipe Band and
Bicester ATC Band.
  
Sunday saw the Banbury and District Show at Spiceball Park. Thousands turned
out in the sunshine to enjoy the spectacle and events. Show organiser, Banbury
Town Council's Ann Sewell was thrilled with the turn-out. Arena events were
introduced by member, Adrian Evans. Nathan Mulligan, Graham Rousell,
Stewart Green and newcomers, Georgie Sullivan and Sam Steel were the other
RH Members helping on the day.
Arena acts included, Dingle Fingle in his relentless pursuit of Slippery Sid the
classic car thief, Dance with the DJ and the Banbury Area Cohesion Group,
celebrating local cutures through music and dance.
 
This was the first summer event where Radio Horton, with it's new kit from
The Carphone Warehouse was able to broadcast a live broadcast back to the
Horton.

TESCO'S MUSIC DAY

 

On Saturday we helped Tesco's with a 60's/70's/80's music event, a

INFOSOUND AUDIO SERVICE FOR PATIENTS
 
Infosound is a national UK charity that provides professionally-produced
news and information, in audio, for the two million blind and partically
sighted people living in the UK, there families, friends and carers.
 
From today, Radio Horton will be broadcasting Infosound's 15-minute
weekly bulletin of news and information which is updated every Monday.
It will be broadcast on RH for the first time on a Tuesday at 4.00pm with
a repeat play every Friday at 4.00pm.
 
Patients got a taste of what to expect when the bulletin was launched on
this afternoon's edition of Live At Three.

NEW SPRING LINE-UP STARTS TODAY
 
RH started their new spring programme guide today with some fresh new
faces, making his debut was Al Smart with his new Easy Sunday show at
1.00pm.
 
Charlotte Anne Polland brings her Pure Musical programme to Wednesday
nights at 7.00pm while dad, Rob has his Radio Hour, Saturday nights at
8.00pm.
 
Thursday sees our biggest shake-up with newcomer Amanjit Dhillon joining us
to present Live At Three, Jack Halliwell moves from Wednesday to bring his
Alternative Mix to 6.00pm. An old favourite of RH returns under the disguise of
Eddie B with his Memory Jogger which brings something special for our older
listeners and is new at 7.00pm.
 
Tara Lacey-Rousou is back on air on RH on Monday mornings at 10.00am with The Caribbean Connection and Friday morning in the same time slot with That
Friday Feeling.
 
Finally a best of the previous week's requests can be heard with Station
Manager, Stewart Green, Sunday morning at 11.00am.
 
The Carphone Warehouse now sponsors our daily afternoon magazine

The station is proud to announce a new deal with the local branch of The
