Busy weekend of events for Radio Horton

Radio Horton was out in the community over the past weekend (10th & 11th)  at three summer events, Banbury Academy’s Family Fun Day, Christopher Rawlins PTFA Adderbury Summer Fete and the Banbury & District Show,

Our intrepid team of volunteers split into two teams so we could simultaneously cover both

events on the Saturday at the same time. and met up again on the Sunday.

The Banbury Academy Family Fun day saw the station’s trailer welcome hundreds of guests with great music and provide announcements regarding live dance shows from sister school the Harriers Academy, Dashwood Academy and Space Studio, plus music from Tenacity, a fun dog show, circus, a summer market, bouncy castle, bounce jousting and much, much, more.

Former principle of Banbury School, Mrs Higham, co-judged and announced the winner of the “Cake Fit For a Queen” winner, which was won by Annelise. New Banbury Mayor, Colin Clarke, also judged the competition on the day.

Over in Adderbury, the annual fete was celebrating 20 years since publishing Harry Potter, with a distinctly wizard event!

The event saw owls, wand decorating, potion making, broomsticks, Quidditch and a Flourish & Blotts Bookshop. Plus a dog show, BBQ, games, raffle and the legendary tug of war which ended the the fun-filled afternoon.

At Banbury & District Show on  the Sunday,we were hosting the dance arena in the second field. We had some amazing dance acts such as the Danielle BuickAcademy Of Theatre Arts, Implexa Dance Company, Joanne Mills School Of Dance, Julie Bruce Dance Academy, Banbury Dance Classes, Kaleidoscope Theatre Collage and ending the day were Stagecoach Dance Group. Their was all the usual food and entertainment as well including beer, burgers, bouncy castle, inflatable slides, lazer tag and paint ball.

Huge thanks to the organisers and hosts of all the events, everyone that took part and of course, everyone that attended.

Radio Horton’s teams included: Bill Warren, Tom Wilson, Anthony Brown, Victoria Walton, Alison Humphrey, Charlie Hallam, Jeanette Warren, Olga Wilson, James Hulbert, Lisa Simmons and John Koenig AKA Peanutz.
